Look Post|Flashback Friday

Cover

Hope you all good I cannot believe it is Friday already and the last day of January 2014. A month ago I was chilling on the beach in Phuket excited to see in the new year. I am happy to say the month back home has been busy but good. I am still sticking to everything I promised myself I would and very focused on getting into shape this year. Hope you guys are too. #makeithappen2014

As most of you know my other half Courteney is a hip hop dancer, we did this photo-shoot awhile back, so this is a real Flashback Friday. It was a Hip Hop inspired shoot. It was so impromptu we got a call an hour before heading to the location so, in an hour, we put a few looks together. I did make up a very little I know about make up, but I made magic nun the less.

Hip Hop Dance is another way to keep fit. It is so much fun and who doesn’t like to dance even if you can’t, it just makes it more fun.

If you at all interested in joining and live in the Cape Town area, please check out, Out Of Africa Dance Academy for more information.

Peace love & Happiness

The Thailand Adventures – Welcome to Paradise #3

Welcome

Ahhh, Paradise where do I begin, at the beginning rightfully so lol. Boxing Day we woke up at 5 to get to the airport by 630am for our flight out of Bangkok and to Phuket. We were spending 7 nights in Patong. This area is known as the red light district of Phuket, but we had no idea what was in store for us.

We arrived and the weather was sunny and warm. We spoke to a tour operator as we waited for our bags. Me being in charge of tours we had a clear idea of what we wanted to do.

Our List (in no particular order)

1. Elephant Trekking
2. Island hopping
3. Show of some sort
4. Touch a tiger
5. Party
6. Beach
7. Swim
8. Snorkel
9. Boat ride
10. Explore
11. Shop
12. Light lanterns
13. Make Friends
14. Thai Massage and Beauty treatments

I can say with great excitement that we completed everything on that list and more.

We booked an apartment for the week. The place is called Sunset Apartments. We loved it and looked exactly like the pictures we had seen online. We used bookings.com for all our hotel bookings and flew in using Air Asia and got good deals.

It was our first time traveling to Thailand, and we went during peak season so we were sceptic to not book a place to stay before we arrived. That’s why we booked this place, but it was not cheap.

Tip: If you want value for your money it is cheaper to find something when their or book one night and then plan the rest of the trip as you go. (Our plan for next trip)

The landlord( I feel so bad for not remembering his name) I referred to him as Mr. Chow from the Hangover lol. He was so friendly took us on a drive around the little town showed us where everything was and was always available for helping.

On our way to our place, our driver took us to a travel agent, and we booked trips for the next few days. Our plan was to do a trip one day then rest the next day. So the next day, we planned the Island hopping tour and over the next few days we would do  Adventure Trip, Phuket Phantasea show and a trip to Phi Phi.

Our first day we walked the streets checked out the beach, the mall and went for Thai massages to ease us into the adventurous week. The Thai massage was so good, just thinking about it makes me want to go back right now.

The evening we walked  down the infamous Bangla road where we spent most nights. It is so crazy people everywhere clubs and bars everywhere. Every person is trying to get you into a ping pong show or pursued you to go into their bar. It does get much, and you just have to walk away. We met some awesome people just walking down the streets. We met 3 Israeli guys they were awesome, and we ended up chilling with them most of the night, at a bar called tiger. We had many drinks and loads of fun laughing and dancing. It was one of those random unexpected nights’ best ways to kick off the holiday vibes.

Hope your enjoying these Thailand Adventure Tales, please let me know in the comments and if you have any questions about anything, planning a trip, etc. we did this trip all by ourselves so happy to help where I can.

Next week’s installment will be about our Island hopping, speed boat, snorkeling tour so please come back for that.

Peace love & Happiness

Why we are Here – A Reminder to Me and You

I read somewhere that January is the month of living in the clouds because it’s a new year, and you make all these promises to yourself. So you pretty happy because you have not given up on yourself just yet.

I have been beaming with excitement ever since I got home from my trip. I have been more focused on my life and what I want to accomplish with it. I know the journey will not be easy, and I do not want to burn out again.Time for an action plan as I seem to want to do so many things and then never get started and I fear that may happen.

Last night I worked till 10 pm after my day job ended I rushed home to take a quick shower and then off to a meeting at my church, I am the new leader of the kids ministry I have been doing it for years now so just had to touch base on plans for the year. Then off to Sister Incorporated where I volunteer with the kids. It was so good to be back feeling like God welcomed me home. Sad to see one little boy and his mom has left the home. I grew so fond of him, but all I can do now is pray that they safely in God’s hands.

Then after that I rushed off to another meeting. This one was to discuss future plans for the Out Of Africa Dance Academy as we rolling into pre show mode which is going to be hectic again. So I was done by the time I got home could hardly utter two words.
My mom aka my guardian angel posted this picture on my Facebook wall that was very profound to me. The Quote; “God would not have put a dream in your heart if He hadn’t already given you everything you need to fulfil it”

CherryHearts was born in my heart 3 years ago with the help of the great friend. We were both going through hell at the time. We played around with the idea of me owning my own business one day and thought of names and CherryHearts was born.

I recently met up with him for lunch, and we caught up, he saw me at my lowest and I saw him in his weakest form too. He told me he recently started following my blog and very happy with what I have done and the name. He could not believe how much I have changed, from a scared girl stuck in doomed job to this confident women.(his words not mine)

I explained my vision to him, I call it a lifestyle blog because I love many things. My true aim is that Courteney and I through our various god gifted talents can start a movement of hope and inspiration for all who meet us in person, read one article, sees one picture or video. We are 2 ordinary girls meeting other ordinary girls and guys along the way and we all doing extraordinary things. We all have stories to share and through that we will help, encourage, and build one another up.

Our vision; Is to inspire one and all by giving everyone hope that today can start your better tomorrow.

I don’t do this to be famous one day I do this because 3 years ago God used two broken people to plant a seed in our lives that change was coming, hope will be seen, and you can create anything you put your mind to and conquer all your fears.
I see things so much clearer now, I have confidence in myself I knew was there, but has finally come to the surface.

I was never sure about anything until I started doing this, writing, enjoying life, sharing my story with everyone. One day I would love to own my own CherryHearts foundation. A safe haven for teen girls from all backgrounds, dealing with anything and everything related to being women and equipping them with skills to be confident, educated young women and giving them hope that you can rise above your circumstances.

I don’t know where I will be in the future, if things will change and I am sure I will change too, but I do know for a fact God has put a dream in my heart and my plan is to fulfill it.

I just had the burst of inspiration to reflect and write this so extra post this week. It is reminder to me what CherryHearts is and hope it is interesting for you to hear the back story behind my journey.

Peace love & Happiness

A Weekend out and about Exploring Wine Country

I hope everyone is ready to tackle the fourth week of the New year!( the years is whizzing by)

This weekend my friends and I planned a trip out to explore Wine Country. Now in Cape Town we are truly spoilt for choice we have the Winelands of Franschhoek, Somerset West, Wellington and Stellenbosch. My favourite is Franschhoek , I just love it, the vast greenery and the small quaint town feel and it’s only an hour out of the hustle and bustle of the city.We arrived at the ticket office at 11am ready to meet our Tour guide and set off on a wine tram adventure.

How it works

Route

There are two lines you can choose from, blue line or red line. We did the red route, which included 6 wine farms and 3 complementary tastings. It is a combination of wine bus, tram and then an extra fun tractor ride from the tram stop to the next wine farm. I have been to Franschhoek many times before, but this experience was by far the highlight of all my Franschhoek trips. If you are new or old to the city, this is the best way to experience the Franschhoek wine valley.
The wine farms you visit on the tour are, Mont Rochelle, La Couronne, Moreson, Leopards leap, Rickety Bridge and Grande Provence.

My favourite wine Farm was Moreson; they have amazing sparkling wine that I fall in love with truly amazing. I cannot help it; I am a fine dining and tiny bubbles girl. (hint hint if anyone wants to spoil me lol) I love this wine farm because of its beautiful flowers and the vast spectrum of colours. It could have you there for hours. I am also a lover of small details. If there is 3 things you must know about me is;
1. I am a sucker for shoes and sales
2. Chairs
3. Wine glasses( maybe the wine to)

The host that was explaining the wines to us could not stop laughing by this time we had already visited 2 wine farms (enough said). I loved that, with each wine, we got a new glass, champagne flute and then red wine glass all while sitting in the garden.

We then went on the tram and tractor ride to the next two stops. I will say I am pretty bruised from the bumpy ride (take your minds out the gutter) It was so much fun. Leopard’s leap has the greenest grass I have ever seen it was so beautiful, a painted picture. Then we went off to Rickety Bridge by this time things got a little crazy. While I went off chatting to random people, apparently after a few glasses of vino, I tend to get chatty (who would have thought lol). The next thing I know my two friends come walking out wearing aprons from the guys behind the wine bar (can’t take these girls anywhere what a laugh)

We were a nice small group of people on the tour and made some cool friends. It was just something so great to do on a summer’s day in Cape Town and well  recommended to everyone. Thanks to the staff for the great job,our wine tram tour experience was awesome. Marc was our tour guide, and he was fantastic at making sure we didn’t miss the bus and even finding us a toilet at the end of the tour.

Look Post|Check Mate

BeFunky_BeFunky_edit.jpg

I bought this cute check/plaid two piece ensemble at one of the boutique shops in Bangkok. They were having after Christmas sales, and you know what that red sale sign does to me. I think it sends some motorneuron alarm signal to my brain saying, buy me in flashing lights. I will admit I do have a Red Sale Sign addiction lol but, as they say, admitting is the first sign of recovery lol.

Hope you like our first look post for the year. Now that I have a new camera the Cannon 650D shooting these looks are amazing to do. Courteney is great to photograph to; so it is easy always having a go to model on hand.

I love these 2 pieces looks, and the asymmetrical skort ( skirt shorts)I fall in love with when I saw them at Zara and everyone in the blog world starting wearing them. This look can be dressed up and down. For this look, have paired them with my new studded pointy flats from Zoom. The beauty of this look is it can look extra edgy with high top sneaker and more dolled up with a pretty sophisticated heel. The shades I used  for this look gives this outfit extra cool edge. I am in love with tinted lenses in any colour got these shades at Cotton On needless to say on sale too.l(I should be called the bargain queen)

Let me know what you think? Have a great weekend all!!

Peace love & Happiness

The Thailand Adventures – An Unconventional Christmas #2

I woke up Christmas morning with the unfamiliar smell of no cooking goodness lofting into my bedroom, as my mom would have been a slave to the stove at the crack of dawn already.  Instead I woke in a hotel room with two of my besties uttering soft Merry Christmases to each other.

No church on Christmas morning or gifts being exchanged instead we had an odd Thai version of an American breakfast lol Adapting to the Thai way was something we would all have to get used to very quickly, we were in Thailand after all. Even Crossing the road was difficult, cars just go and if you don’t make a run for it you may be left on the curb for a very long time. Luckily we had a secret weapon Tiny I call her , my friend T’Niele . She moved to the big city of Bangkok about 7 months ago and knows the ins and outs pretty well .

She gave us directions to travel around the city using the public transport without getting ripped off by Tuk Tuk drivers or cabs.We found our way around very easily and could not understand why people kept telling us we would hate Bangkok . We totally loved it and the smell wasn’t as bad as other people had told us . Note to self don’t always listen to everything people have to say about a place, its good to form your own opinion once you there.

So our Christmas consisted of a visit to Madame Tussauds ( my first Madame experience) was fun, took pictures like tourists Lol ( oh yes we were allowed to) Then we went to Siam Sea world aka the aquarium. It was an average experience in my opinion only because I have seen it all at home, and if you were a kid you would love it .

The best part of the day was our Christmas lunch, (can you pick up my sarcasm here lol) Wait for it…We went to Burger King, not even joking .We were so overwhelmed by the 7 stories shopping malls that just never ended. That we opted for something we knew, still shaking my head at the thought of Burger King for Christmas lunch . We then made our way to MBK with T’Nielle that had finished school for the day.

Now MBK is our version of China Town on serious steroids . Stalls upon stalls of stuff anything you want you can find it here . It is rather overwhelming to say the least . You need a few days to tackle every floor . One purchase I am crazy about is my portable charger, gadget thing . Seriously saves my life when I am out and about . We didn’t shop too much only because we knew we were coming back before we left to go home . The girls bought enough to get by for the next few days .

We had a decent dinner at the Bangkok equivalent of a Spur called, Sizzlers. It was a nice way to end off our first day in Thailand and spend our first friends Christmas together . I will say it didn’t help when my mother kept sending me pictures of her feast she prepared , no matter how many times we tell her not to cook so much , she just never listens. (Mothers knows best they say.)

Hope you enjoy these Thailand posts. Please feel free to comment below and let me know your Christmas traditions and stories . Come back next week to read all about Our first day in Phuket .

A Little bit of This & That

I read the funniest thing this morning that said; Its the 20th day of the new year and for most people their new years resolutions have been broken already lol I found that particularly funny only because it is so true. While I am still tying to contain my excitement for this year, do as much as possible, all whileI am still living on a high and keeping this momentum going.

It was so lovely to see my NewGen girls on Saturday at Dancing. Some of you reading this may be new and welcome to you. To fill you in briefly, the CherryHeartGirls consist of myself Thalea and my sister Courteney, you can find out more about us just click on the about tab above. Long story short, Courts is a dancer ( a good one) Hip Hop dance is her genra but she does all styles.

I work with the dance School Out of Africa Dance Academy and do their  online marketing and general PR .  Courteney’s Dance crew is called New Generation aka NewGen. They’re like my little project love those girls, so much talent. So it was great to see everyone on Saturday at practice and all the new faces who have joined. We’re working on a our production again Dreams into Reality 2  you can read all about last year’s production here. This year we taking it to the Artscape Theatre  for 3 shows in May. So I have my work cut of for me. I love using my talents and sowing it back into the community.

Summer in Cape Town is my favorite time of year. (hint hint come here for a summer holiday)Saturday I beached again this time with my awesomeness friends (no really we have group on whatspap called awesomeness lol) It was so nice being with everyone again, I missed them so much. We played Frisbee, spoke nonsense and went to the beach bar for Cocktail o’clock lol Then later went tubbing pictures will explain it all.

I have mentioned this before I am not a very structured blogger, whatever inspires me I write about, which will still be my formula. This year I want to be committed to releasing a post more so than just sporadically, like some weeks everyday or once a week ect. This year I have committed to do 3 posts a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday.(When I feel over inspired or have good news ect you will find an extra post here and there) So it is a flexible frame work for me to work within.

Please give our newly launched Facebook page CherryHeartsblog some love too here you will find blog updates, pictures and general on the go news! Follow me on Instagram at Thals01 and Courteney too  at COURTENEYCHILLEIGH to keep up to date with us.

Have an amazing week guys, don’t forget new Thailand Adventures comes out on Wednesday.
